Simple Apple Sauce

Somethings are so easy to make, it’s really a shame people buy them; especially when there’s only 1-3 ingredients. This apple sauce was a result of needing it for a recipe, being too cheap/lazy to buy some, I simply made it. With about 5 minutes prep, I was done within half an hour-about the same amount of time it would take to go to the store. I know you can buy jarred sauce with ‘just apples’ but even still, it’s really nice to know and see exactly what’s gone into your food. You can eat this plain, add it to cake or whatever you want, it’s almost too easy for a recipe but sometimes it’s nice to have the figuring out done for you.

Simple Apple Sauce

Yields 2 cups

  • 3 very large apples or 5 small – medium apples
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • pinch of salt
  1. Peel, core and shred apples. Add lemon juice and salt, simmer on medium low until soft and mushy. About 20 minutes
  2. You can blitz it at this point if you don’t want chunky sauce. Cool before refrigerating. Lasts about a month in a sealed container.
